Whether you are away for holidays, business trips or weekend getaways outside your home province, chances are that you will have a safe trip. Most Canadians are not aware that you can still incur high costs for emergency medical care even when you travel within Canada.

Many of us forget that some medical expenses are not covered by our provincial health insurance plan when we travel outside our province of residence. The coverage offered by our governmental health insurance is very limited when we travel outside our province.

Did you know that our provincial health insurance requires that we pay our own medical expenses up front when traveling? We will only be reimbursed several weeks later and in some cases, only part of the bill will be paid.
